Dec. 16th 1989 1/2 million people were assembled in this central Revolution Plaza - the temperature was very cold (think Minnesota in Dec.) at the order of the dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu. When the crowd began to chant "Down with Ceauşescu" the tanks came in and the bullets began to fly - thousands were killed and the Romanian Communist era came to an end.
